We offer complete continuity of care, from routine wellness exams to diagnostics and emergency services, meaning less stress, faster answers, and a smoother experience for both you and your furry family members.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays allow us to see what your pet can’t tell us. Using modern radiography technology, we can quickly capture detailed images of bones, joints, lungs, and internal organs. This helps us identify concerns like fractures, pneumonia, blockages, or dental issues with clarity.
Our caring team takes every step to ensure a calm and safe experience. Digital imaging uses less radiation than traditional X-rays, and results appear instantly. This allows us to walk you through the findings right away and discuss the next treatment steps together. With faster answers, you can feel more at ease knowing your furry friend is getting the care they need without delay.
Ultrasounds
If your pet’s pain originates in soft tissue or one of its organs, an ultrasound may be necessary. Ultrasound imaging provides us with real-time visuals of your pet’s internal health using gentle, non-invasive sound waves. Ultrasound exams are typically well tolerated, and our team takes a gentle, patient-focused approach to minimize stress. To ensure the most accurate diagnostic images and your pet’s safety, some pets may require gentle restraint or mild sedation during the procedure.
Ultrasound imaging helps us evaluate many organs, including:
- Heart
- Abdomen
- Kidneys
- Bladder
- Spleen
- Liver
- Reproductive organs
Because ultrasounds offer dynamic, moving images, they often help us confirm diagnoses that X-rays alone cannot, giving you more complete answers about your pet’s health. It’s especially helpful when a pet has subtle symptoms. Whether our veterinarian team is checking for inflammation, pregnancy, tumors, stones, or fluid buildup, ultrasounds give us clearer answers so we can guide you with confidence and care.
Electrocardiography Exams
An electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) records the electrical activity of your pet’s heart. This quick, non-invasive test helps us evaluate your pet’s heart rhythm, detect arrhythmia, and identify other potential cardiac issues. Many heart conditions show no outward signs or symptoms early on, making ECG testing a valuable tool, especially for senior pets, at-risk breeds, or pets undergoing anesthesia.
Our veterinary team interprets ECG results promptly to ensure your pet receives the most informed, effective care we can provide. With this early detection, we can begin treatment promptly and support your pet’s long-term heart health.
At West Park Animal Hospital, ECGs are also used to screen and monitor heart activity before and during anesthesia, allowing our veterinary team to closely track cardiac function and make real-time adjustments if needed to support your pet’s safety. We utilize Midmark multi-parameter monitors to provide comprehensive anesthetic monitoring, including blood pressure, ECG, end-tidal CO₂, pulse oximetry, temperature, and an esophageal stethoscope.
Other Diagnostic Tools
Along with X-rays, ultrasound imaging, and ECGs, our team also uses other diagnostic tools to get a full picture of your pet’s condition. They include:
- CT/CAT machine: This specialized machine for computed tomography (CT) scans uses computerized X-ray imaging to take detailed images of your pet. These images offer veterinarians an exceptional level of detail that isn’t possible with X-rays alone. This technology allows us to identify tooth root disease, brain tumors, and nasal polyps. The CT is also useful in evaluating complex fractures.
- : An endoscope is a small tube that has a camera and a light on it. It is guided into the animal to examine portions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. Endoscopy is often used to look for lesions, take biopsies of diseased tissue for further evaluation, and get in-depth information to guide diagnostics or sometimes remove foreign bodies.
- In-house lab: Sometimes, your pet may require blood work or a urinalysis to help determine a diagnosis. We have an on-site lab with high-tech equipment that helps our team quickly narrow down the cause of your pet’s symptoms. We can provide full blood tests, screenings for parasites, and tests for conditions like feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), parvovirus, and cytologies such as ear and skin cytology to help identify bacterial or yeast infections. Because these tests are done on-site, we receive results quickly and begin treatment sooner.
Using all the tools at our disposal, we work efficiently to determine your pet’s condition and identify a suitable treatment.
